AUSTIN, Texas — A proposal by state Sen. Dan Patrick would pay pregnant women $500 for choosing adoption over abortion. -Foxnews.
“We want that lady to have an incentive that makes her stop and think about having an abortion and that gives her a reason to put her baby up for adoption,” Patrick said. “My goal is to save as many babies as we possibly can.”
In a large way it is rather depressing to have to bribe women not to commit murder (abortion) on their inconvenience (child) but if that’s what it takes than I see no problem with it. Fran Hagerty of the Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas believes that the bill is “insulting to woman and also insulting to all the great charitable organizations out there that do wonderful work finding adoptive parents and taking care of the birth mother”. In my opinion adding one more incentive to let your child have a chance at life is a wonderful thing. Abortion is almost always for selfish reasons, a minuet percent of abortions are for health reasons. Studies have shown that the only real reason is usally “inconvenience” and “not being ready”.
So is this immoral? Is it wrong to give women a financial incentive to give their child up for adoption instead of just pushing the kill button? Critics will of course call this slavery or that this is the same as selling the child. Pertman believes throwing money into the mix only causes coercion; I disagree. Considering one of the main reasons for abortion is financial women who commit the act obviously could be swayed by money. Maybe money will only feed into the evil, perhaps there shouldn’t be any positives to giving up your child instead of aborting it (other than not committing murder).
I am tough on this issues and admit I am as far right on the issue of life as it gets. What’s wrong with that though? Who needs more protection than those who can’t speak for themselves? The human race is full of merciful and loving people; if we don’t protect the unspoken for we are taking away one the most important qualities that truly makes us a human race. If a woman decides to not abort because they like the sound of $500 perhaps that proves a darker point. If the only thing keeping you from abortion is a couple hundred bucks you have a deeper seeded issue that proves my point. Abortion is a silent (maybe not so silent) genocide that ravishes millions of lives and should be put to a stop. So throw a couple bones to the to-be-mothers; they obviously don’t realize the importance of their child’s life.
