What I Expect; Tonight’s Republican Debate.

I feel we won’t see much more than we did at the last Democratic Debate. The front runners (Rudy, McCain, Romney) will spend their time elbowing each other. The trailers (Brownback, Huckabee, Hunter, Thompson, Gilmore and Tancredo) will do their best to get the most air time they can. Paul will continue to pull away from standard Republican opinion while shaking it up; which isn’t bad for him. I’m sure we will see some heat between the candidates, unlike the Democrats the Republicans don’t seem as shy when it comes to sucker punching each other. Will Paul and Rudy go at it again? I think we might see something I just don’t know what.
Iraq was the main issue of the Democratic debate on Sunday and I imagine it will be again tonight. The difference will be that the Republicans won’t do as much “I would have done this” but more “I will do this”. The Republicans will do their best to simply ignore that Bush exists, the Democrats bashed him but I don’t think you will hear his name more than once. Immigration will most likely take second place with the most recent bill in the making. I look to see McCain take some heat for it; it will be interesting to see the reaction from him and to see if it helps or hurts his cause . Last on the issues, from a personal opinion, I hope to see some more daylight on social issues. Abortion, gay marriage, capital punishment and other important issues weren’t even touched on Sunday so I hope to see some discussion.
I expect the winner to be Romney. Well, probably Paul including Democrats and Romney for the Republican base. It’s not that I prefer either I feel it is the trend. Romney will keep it cool while not making any rash comments while dodging the too-serious questions. Paul is most likely going to be the same he was in the past debates but I feel his popularity shows the large amount of disdain for the Republican party. He may be rather different from the bunch but after looking into the issues I have gotten a bit more comfortable with his opinions. I expect most of the same from each candidate but I expect heat from Rudy and Paul and heat towards McCain. We will see tonight on CNN at 7:00pm ET. Come back for my thoughts after the debate!
Who will stand out? Who will win? Please post your comments I would love to hear them, all sides are welcome that is the point of debate!
