The Huckabee and Paul Moment

It’s very clear that the war in Iraq is going to be a very heated topic this year and the next. The Republican candidates have it right, most of them do anyway and I’m sure they’ll stick to it. Candidates like Paul will stick with their game plan the entire time as well but tucking our tails and running doesn’t seem very intelligent. You may think Huckabee gave it to Paul in this debate or vice versa but Mike has gotten it right. Mr. Paul wants to keep saying that “neo-conservatives” high jacked our foreign policy but he again is wrong. I’m sure he wants to push that but the fact remains that everyone believed we were doing the right thing at that moment. It’s easy to look back with perfect hindsight and say it was a mistake but people who had a brain at that moment knew there was a threat and said something needed to be done. So Ron Paul can keep saying it was a mistake but it was clear we needed to act and thankfully we did just that.

“Even if we lose elections, we should not lose our honor, and that is more important than(?) the Republican Party” - Quote made by Huckabee during his spat with Paul at Wednesday’s debate. That makes perfect sense to me, like I said before, we may have made the mistake to go into Iraq but why should we make the mistake by running away like cowards? The Democrats scream that we have no exit strategy but it has always been the same, we must build the country up and make them responsible for their own country’s protection. Why do the the Democrats want to hide from terrorists? One thing is for sure, we need a candidate in office who knows how to run a country. We don’t need people using the presidency as a training ground. It’s a bad idea at this moment to vote in someone who goes by their gut and not their minds, it’s clear that Paul wants to govern with good will. Let’s run from the war and let’s watch the masses die. But you won’t see the Dem’s or Ron’s company shedding a tear, the constitution doesn’t have an amendment allowing that but it does say Marijuana should be legal and sold commercially. But this is how the Democrats have been thinking since they realized people hate war but wishing on a star doesn’t stop the terrorists from wanting to kill us all.

Paul’s fake popularity continues to grow and it’s clear that people like Paul but it’s very obvious that he doesn’t belong in the Republican line up. In all reality he belongs as a Democrat or better yet an independent. The fact that Paul is pro life is the only thing that allows him to wear the sheep’s clothing. Paul’s supporters are going crazy for him screaming “revolution” and this sure sounds like the Dem’s famed “change” anthem. The problem that people like Mr. Paul have is that they live in a fairy tale world. When I deal with a moral issue I go to the bible but all my specific answers aren’t always directly answered so instead I figure things out by reading between the lines. Likewise we should work with the constitution, it doesn’t speak directly on certain things but times have changed and we need to work with the times and do what’s best now. A law banning gay marriage is not prohibited by the constitution but neither is it against the constitution to allow gay marriage. I believe when it comes to these issues that we need to go to the people and have a vote. If they were to have state by state voting against gay marriage country wide it would surely be banned in most states so I say let’s do it.

So who do you think is right? Should we hide from the terrorists, beg for mercy and pray to Allah or should be stand and fight? I know 2001 was a long time ago but we shouldn’t weaken ourselves so we can experience a repeat. There’s no need for a reenactment and I for one wish to see al these terrorists crushed underneath our boots. We don’t need to be negotiating with our murderers and we don’t need to hide from these scum. Paul may sound great but don’t fluttery dreams always sound great? Paul can pray to the founding fathers all he wants but we need to make decisions based on the troubles today and not the troubles of yesteryear. In the end we need to leave with our honor, we need to leave Iraq knowing that all is stable. So when we lay our heads down at night we know two things; that we are that much safer and that the lives lost were not lost in vain.
