Senate Votes Against Petraeus Slander

  • 070123_clintonpetraeus_hmed12phmedium.jpgThe Senate voted 72 - 25, condemning MoveOn’s “General Betray Us” advertisement published by the New York Times last Monday. [link]

My first thoughts; who were the 25 that voted against condemning these people? Well, let’s take a look at the list shall we.

    Nay Yeah
    Akaka (D-HI)
    Bingaman (D-NM)
    Boxer (D-CA)
    Brown (D-OH)
    Byrd (D-WV)
    Clinton (D-NY)
    Dodd (D-CT)
    Durbin (D-IL)
    Feingold (D-WI)
    Harkin (D-IA)
    Inouye (D-HI)
    Kennedy (D-MA)
    Kerry (D-MA)
    Lautenberg (D-NJ)
    Levin (D-MI)
    Menendez (D-NJ)
    Murray (D-WA)
    Reed (D-RI)
    Reid (D-NV)
    Rockefeller (D-WV)
    Sanders (I-VT)
    Schumer (D-NY)
    Stabenow (D-MI)
    Whitehouse (D-RI)
    Wyden (D-OR)
    Baucus (D-MT)
    Bayh (D-IN)
    Cardin (D-MD)
    Carper (D-DE)
    Casey (D-PA)
    Conrad (D-ND)
    Dorgan (D-ND)
    Feinstein (D-CA)
    Johnson (D-SD)
    Klobuchar (D-MN)
    Kohl (D-MN)
    Landrieu (D-LA)
    Leahy (D-VT)
    Lieberman (ID-CT)
    Lincoln (D-AR)
    McCaskill (D-MO)
    Mikulski (D-MO)
    Nelson, Ben (D-FL)
    Nelson, Bill (D-NE)
    Salazar (D-CO)
    Tester (D-MT)
    Webb (D-VA)

The actual wording of the amendment is as follows:

“To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.”

The next question would be, why those that wouldn’t condemn it are not doing so? It’s quite obvious they are afraid to condemn their own groups, who I believe, hold their thoughts and opinions. Those Democrats that had enough pride to condemn MoveOn must not care about their support, but those that denied the reprimand are obviously cowards. These people are basically saying that they have the freedom to spit in our military’s face and they will practice their right to do exactly that. We all know the true feelings of these Democrats, tearing apart the military and handing us over to the U.N. would be any Democrat’s dream. I can imagine a very large group sitting in a circle, talking about how wonderful it is that the U.S. is finally disarmed. Don’t get it twisted, I know where their loyalties stand and its not with the American people or it’s military. Their motives are always power, they yearn to be the majority and will fight tooth and nail to rule this country. They want to rearrange the social ladder to make the little man the same as the big man; minus the lifetime of work and sacrifice.

We all know how the Democratic party works. They push their objectives and fight for recognition from the the minorities of America. They use the old cliche that only they care about the working man but what do they do to help the working man? They hide their motives behind things like “free health care” and raising the minimum wage to $400 an hr. But the consequences are great on the little man when the Democrats make laws on their behalf. They raise the minimum wage, allowing anyone to make twice the amount the job is worth. In return they are angered that milk is almost $5 a gallon and gas keeps on rising. They want that minimum wage to sky rocket but they looked baffled when it causes stores to raise their prices. In the same way you see the Democrats clawing at the military. By appeasing to the anti-war crowd that has grown as of recent they are free to rant and rave. They rant and spit in the face of those far more honorable then they are and call it their duty to keep others in line. So instead of funding our troops and helping protect them in battle they pander the anti-war left; effectively starving our chances for victory in Iraq.

So what is to gain from all this mess? Power, there is much power in the balance with this upcoming election. It’s not about leaving Iraq or free health care, for them it’s picking the issues that will help them win the office back. It’s all about standing tall, claiming victory and then doing nothing of what they promised. They won the votes of America, calling out to leave Iraq, they won the vote and what did they do? Nothing, their methods were to choke the military funding; a sick plan that would do nothing but harm. So do they do when an honorable four star General presents his findings on Iraq in which they disagree with? The only thing Democrats ever do, they jump on their credibility and go for the jugular. They use every bit of passion and malice to denounce that person, drawing from integrity everyone knows they don’t have. This is just another piece of the puzzle that is the pathetic Democrats’ plan to return to power, I pray to God they fail.
