All Democratic Candidates Agree; We Can’t Just Pull The Troops Out Of Iraq.

This isn’t something that I’m making up, it is something that all the candidates (most of) fully agreed upon during their most recent debate. The interesting part is that Rush Limbaugh has already stated that no candidate would be dumb enough to pull us out of Iraq. Not only does that seem to be true, the Democrats have taken the liberty to prove that fact themselves with these recent comments. Every single top Democratic candidate went down the line and said that they could not guarantee that they would pull the troops out of Iraq before the end of their first term was up.
This makes sense, there’s no way any Presidential candidate will see pulling the troops out like a Band-Aid as a reasonable option.
“I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.
He’s right, you can’t predict how things will go a couple months from now let alone four years from now. I’m glad that they are finally making a little sense, it almost seems like somebody has been counseling them on this issue. They can play the political game but they know that this situation is a serious one, no one in their right mind would pull the troops out of Iraq their second day in office.
“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.
However, not all Democrats seemed to agree. Bill Richardson and Chris Dodd both chimed in, saying that they would be pulling troops out as soon as possible.
“I’ll get the job done,” said Dodd, while Richardson said he would make sure the troops were home by the end of his first year in office.
Perhaps these two know that their chances of winning the nomination are getting slimmer by the minute, so they are pandering to the ultra left for hopes of a last ditch chance. Candidates who want any hope of catching the Presidency needs to be realistic here, even if our occupation in Iraq is an utter failure, there is no way that we can simply cut and run. They can scream and shout their dismay but they know our actions in Iraq are necessary for our safety here at home.
