The latest racist remark comes from a Democrat, yes, a Democrat. But listening to the audio clip and also watching the video I honestly do not understand what he is trying to say. Yeah, I can go crazy like the rest of the right wing blogosphere, but since I just got done saying people are simply waiting for a racist remark to pounce I am going to refrain from doing so. I’m not in the business of twisting people’s words, I feel that is the worst part of politics. I want to hear what people have to say and I want to hear it in context, I don’t care what party you are from.

This is the direct quote from the debate that is being pointed to as being racist.

“We start with the president of the United States saying to America, ‘we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

Don’t get me wrong, I love taking dirty shots at the liberals but I think this one is too easy. With the Democrats waiting for the slightest bit of racism from the right, what’s the point of doing the same to them? When you look at what he said it’s obvious that he meant that the President must not keep building these prisons to keep stuffing young blacks into. Yeah, I’m basically saying he didn’t say anything racist. Baiting racism is the last thing we need in this race. By all means, make fun of Edwards, but I’m not in the business of race baiting when I just finished a piece on the Democrats doing it and how it’s wrong!

However, I completely understand the outrage from the right. When one of our people makes a comment far less dangerous than that, liberal attack dog groups are all over it in a split second. I can imagine the Justice Team, Jackson and Sharpton, speaking on behalf of Edwards. Forget the fact that his comment when taken at face value is extremely offensive, they will give Edwards a break since he obviously didn’t mean what he said. Until we get passed all this racial baiting you will see people who want to help the cause unnecessarily attacked. I’m not that interesting in hypocrisy, how about you?
