Nancy Pelosi speaks about the job the Democrats have done in the first 100 hours as majority in office in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Thursday, January 18, 2007. House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer, D-MD, listens in the background. ( Michael Connor / The Washington Times ) Nanci Pelosi has been receiving some of the treatment that Bush has been receiving for years. For the past five months, war activists have been parked outside of Nanci’s house. During a lunch meeting with reporters yesterday she basically called the activists a bunch of hippies. How does it feel Nanci? You’re doing what you can, you even agree with these people but the second you aren’t jumping through hoops they are camping out on your side walk. Some people live in a fairy tale world where war can be dissolved with hugs and good wishes. That’s not the case, you have to look at the reality we are facing and not your good willed dreams.

"Look," she said, the chicken breast on her plate untouched. "I had, for five months, people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering neighbors, hanging their clothes from trees, building all kinds of things — Buddhas? I don’t know what they were — couches, sofas, chairs, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk."

They’re building a large Buddha? That’s rather odd. I wonder how freedom of speech became "freedom of disturbance" and a "freedom of action." I’m sure you can say speech means anything that represents your thoughts but I don’t think that’s the case. Freedom of expression doesn’t go beyond you stating your opinion without causing others harm. I hate to agree with Nanci but I do, it’s ridiculous, these activists are fighting disorder with disorder.

Unsmilingly, she continued: "If they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering, but because they have ‘Impeach Bush’ across their chest, it’s the First Amendment."

Can we use that from now on? If they were poor they’d be loitering, but because they have ‘Impeach Bush’ signs it’s the First Amendment. That’s a keeper!

Though opposed to the war herself, Pelosi has for months been a target of an antiwar movement that believes she hasn’t done enough. Cindy Sheehan has announced a symbolic challenge to Pelosi in California’s 8th Congressional District. And the speaker is seething.

"We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow," Pelosi told the gathering at the Sofitel, arranged by the Christian Science Monitor. Though crediting activists for their "passion," Pelosi called it "a waste of time" for them to target Democrats. "They are advocates," she said. "We are leaders." Washington Post.

It seems people are realizing promises are different than action. The Democratic party ramped up their anti-war efforts to win the majority and they can’t follow up. This is nothing new, I’ve said all along that they will say whatever they have to to win power but even they know what’s good for this country. They’re so fiercely anti-war but not even the top candidates can guarantee a pullout from Iraq by 2012. It becomes rather obvious what the parties are all about. They hate us because we act on what we believe, everyone hates them because they lie and never follow through. At least I’m hated for standing by my principles, what’s your excuse?
