Another interesting battle is about to come to a boiling point tomorrow as the New Hampshire primary takes place. Real Clear Politics is showing McCain with a slight lead; 33.5% to Romney’s 28.7%. I don’t think Huckabee will have much of a chance, unlike Iowa, he can’t depend on the evangelical vote so much to bring him another victory. Nothing is written in stone and anything can happen. If I was to throw up a prediction I would call Romney the winner by a small margin; that’s a very rough guess I suppose we will surely know soon.

McCain has recently shocked the pundits by jumping up to a virtual tie with Huckabee in the national polls. This is very disheartening for those searching for a all around conservative candidate, Huckabee and McCain leave a lot to be desired. While Huckabee is pulling in those with his clever words it seems a lot are going to McCain out of frustration and perhaps a little bit of confusion. Romney has been impressing those looking for an all around conservative candidate. What has become clear is that there is no Reaganesque candidate that would please the conservative voters. This has been the battle and has resulted in a lot of disgruntled Republicans.

The polls were pretty much right about what would happen in Iowa but things this time around are a bit too tight to really predict with much accuracy. If one thing is for sure it is that politics are very unpredictable. Close to this stage in the 2004 elections I’m sure a lot of people were thinking Howard Dean would be taking the nomination for the Democrats, that’s obviously didn’t happen. This is almost a do or die for Huckabee, McCain and Romney. Depending on how the do you just may be looking at the last breaths of their campaigns.
