Why I Vote Republican.

http://www.standtrue.com/pages/photos/images/day22.jpgPolitics can be a very personal issue for some people. This seems to be the case more so than not. This is why debates can become so heated. When you throw in religious devotion things really get hot. It’s obvious that people of different parties are usually different kinds of people. If I describe to you an energetic college student that listens to DMB and loves the environment more than it is healthy; what political affiliation would you say they belong to? That is a little stereotypical but I doubt you would say “Republican.” It’s more than likely you would guess “Democrat.”

The reason you can easily attach lifestyle to political affiliation is simple; politics is an extension of who we are. Some people couldn’t care less about politics. Then there are people like me that are involved in the political scene and may even go so far as to write about it. Politics for me is exactly that, an extension of who I am. It’s my avenue of choice to fight for what I believe. I was very ecstatic when I was able to vote for the first time during the 2004 elections and have become more and more consumed with politics as time has passed by. For me it is a personal battle and what I believe in my heart. That leads me to why I vote how I do.

You don’t have to read much on here to realize that I am one of those “evangelical voters” that you hear about on TV. For several years I suffered from the “one-issue-voter” syndrome and that’s why I voted for Bush in ‘04 and why I am currently a registered Republican. For some people a specific party is exactly who they are, they don’t need to register independent because their party speaks for them well particularly. As a born again Christian who’s main cause is to fight against abortion it makes sense that I vote Republican but it’s not that simple anymore.

Unlike some evangelical Christians I have grown beyond single issue voting and have found deeper ground in the Republican party beyond the life and family issues. I would urge the single issue voters to do the same. When I started “The Daily Conservative” I started with the mission to fight back against the left and to use my passion for politics in an effective manner. It was more of an experiment than anything but thanks to endless reading and writing on this blog I have truly come to understand what I believe and in that sense realized that I truly am a Republican.

If there is one thing that I have learned throughout this process is that you have to stick to what you truly believe. At the same time you have to be willing to listen. There’s no way for anyone to know everything there is to know. There is no longer a goal for The Daily Conservative except to seek what the name implies—conservatism. As a Christian, issues of life will always be at the core of my battle. However, we all need to learn to expand beyond that. If we become obsessed with that one issue we will find ourselves fooled by a smooth talker that fits that bill specifically but horrible fails with everything else.

I vote Republican not only because they fight for life and the sanctity of the family. I now understand the importance of keeping America safe from those that seek to harm us. How could we forget the lessons learned from 9/11? I don’t endorse fear mongering I simply endorse the full protection of this country and will always support all measures to do so. I believe the American dream is that no matter where you come from that you can do anything you are willing to work hard enough for. I believe in small government, complete gun rights and low taxes. I don’t want to simply call myself “The Daily Conservative” while I act like “The Daily Moderate.” The Reagan vision for American is one that I proudly support, fight for and will always vote for.

Where do you stand? Do you fight for what your heart believes? Please share your thoughts.
