The Future Looks Grim for Conservatives this Election Season.

Perhaps I’m being mundane but I have to insist that I’m not. Republicans are now struck with the decision to accept the “lesser evil” which should not be the case. We can argue details every step of the way but I simply want the most conservative candidate. These are the standards that this party is supposed to live by. If we can’t even be sure of our own candidate’s conservatism how can we comfortably vote for them? Should we simply accept whoever fits the bill best even if that person is very shifty and untrustworthy? I think not, we should hold this party up to higher standards and force them to present better choices.

We can’t be expected to vote for a candidate that could just as well be a right-leaning Democrat. When you have someone that is so moderate that they seem willing to sacrifice their parties’ moral code to reach a deal you are left with someone that you can’t trust. For one to win the Republican nomination perhaps this person should work for this party and not have ever contemplated being John Kerry’s Vice, just saying. Now I guess we’ll see who benefits from Fred dropping out, more than likely Romney, then again I guess we’ll have to see.

Going from there there is some hope. It’s clear that Giuliani, McCain and Huckabee are all wish-washy and would be less than great choices for me. In the past, like I mentioned, I have been critical of Romney. With the recent news of Fred dropping out I am now left to find another choice. Sure I don’t have to endorse anyone and at this point and I’m not. I am however, open to suggestion, and no don’t tell me Ron Paul. For me I was hopping for a solid conservative and Fred Thompson surely is that. Maybe in the end it will be as easy as “Republican or Democrat.” That is one sad fact that we all must face.
