Clinton’s Win in West Virginia is Meaningless.

Hillary Clinton may be 20 delegates stronger but she is still a mountain of impossibilities away from the nomination. The small feat that she accomplished, winning the “white vote” in WV, means nothing considering that Obama has recently taken the superdelegate lead which was Hillary’s last hope. The trend is clearly in Obama’s favor but there’s no use telling her that. She can argue that she is the most electable, the most experienced and best chance against John McCain but no one cares because she isn’t likable. Image is as important as experience, Obama is proof of that and in this sense Hillary is a complete failure. As far as WV goes it was nothing but the white vote dominating the polls. CNN exit polls showed that a measly %3 of those polled were black and of those saying race was the most important issue, whites that is, %85 of them voted for Hillary.
Throw all this into a bucket and you end up with a whole lot of nothing. What I find most interesting is that John Edwards garnered %7 of the vote, further revealing the angst in the party. 25,000 people voted for someone that isn’t even in the race. This is one more layer of evidence that the Democratic party is in not only in a war of sexes but also one of race. They have pointed the finger in our faces for years but when it comes down to it we’re not the ones struggling with race. It’s a simple problem to decipher, the Democratic party is more sexist than it is racist. Who would have guessed it? They don’t want rich white men in the White House they want a rich black man, as if that’s much of a difference. Those that really don’t care about race see it that way and they obviously do.
The Republican results are even more interesting. John McCain easily won %76 of the vote but digging deeper shows some disgruntled voters in the Republican party. The interesting fact continue, not only did Ron Paul receive 5,800 (%5) votes, Mitt Romney grabbed 5,000 (%4.4) votes. Even Giuliani got some love with 2,809 (%2.4) votes. Finally, to top it all off some 1,403 (%1.2) people decided to spend their vote on Alan Keyes, now that’s confusing. When you add it all up you have 27,903 people that decided to vote for someone other than the inevitable nominee that is John McCain. If it were McCain vs “them,” all together it would have been McCain with %76 and “them” with %23. I don’t see how anyone can win the presidency with %23 of their own party against them. People voted for the other candidates out of spite, what does that say about the parties feelings towards McCain? It’s clear that the McCain dissing at the polls will spell a lot trouble in November.
