The Republican party has started to shift itself to the left in an attempt to escape the Bush years. President Bush’s extremely low approval rating matched only by an unpopular war has done quite a bit of damage to the Grand Ol’ Party. Looking back to the Reagen years it is disgusting to see where the party has gone. John McCain’s nomination will officially announce the new GOP. A party full of spineless panderers begging for a vote no matter how pathetic they have to be.

I will not vote for McCain. The pundits swear to the death that people like me will “come around.” We’ll look at the competition and wise up. Perhaps some will, if they don’t wake up like I did, they will make that mistake. Not voting for McCain is not voting for McCain. The consequences of doing so is the GOP ’s fault alone, not mine. I won’t be responsible for their loss. Their steady decline into liberalism will be at fault. We can’t be expected to roll the dice with McCain when we have no idea what he’ll do with this country just to satisfy a hippie or two.

The problem with this party is that it used to stand for something. While standing for something whole heartedly there were people willing to sweat for what they believed in. If the GOP loses standing for what it so passionately believes in then it’s only a small loss. If the GOP loses because they watered down everything to appeal to the moderate and left of this country than it’s a very pathetic loss indeed. This party has lost my respect and I guarantee there will be blood if they don’t wake up.

In my opinion the party and those in it had their chance to save itself by nominating someone like Fred Thompson. Instead we got stuck with a full fledged RINO named John McCain. We couldn’t even get someone like Mitt Romney, far from perfect but at least he was acceptable. Even Mike Huckabee isn’t as bad as McCain but the party just had to have the Maverick. They stuck their fingers in the eyes of those that made this party great, the conservatives, and pushed on with this moderate make over mission. Now we’re watching the goof run around pandering to global warming nuts and illegal aliens, way to go GOP.
