The House That Reagan Built

Looking around at the house these days, all I see is mayhem. It used to be heavily occupied with a lot of smiling faces. It was a house full of honorable, integrous and strong willed men and women. These people knew what they stood for and fought tooth and nail to succeed in their missions. I don’t see very many smiling faces these days, everyone has roamed outside in a pursuit of “greater togetherness.” In reality I know that this desire is foolish. Didn’t we escape from the outside years ago? It’s old news, there’s nothing to be found out in the wilderness.

We conservatives have gladly lived under the Republican name because they were the ones that gave us the pulpit to speak from. It was a wonderful relationship, heck, it was even dreamy at times. Hand in hand we fought for the things we so whole heartedly believed in; small government, low taxes, a free market, a strong national defense and the protection of every precious life. Because of these inner twinned beliefs we loved our party and fought along side it. For many of us we were all inspired by the head of the house hold, a man that galvanized us into battled; One man that went by the name Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Reagan showed this country why the ideas behind conservatism was the key to a successful country. During his term Reagan championed the economy, strengthened our military, empowered our country with traditional values and showed people around the world why America was great. Reagan created 17 million jobs, caused inflation to fall to %4, fought abortion by cutting spending and brought prayer to our schools. Aside from his many accomplishments Reagan was an impressive individual that has inspired, and will inspire, the conservative movement for years and years to come. We all look back at his wonder, hope for something similar to come, but harshly realize you can’t replicate Ronald Reagan.

The point of all this is to outline where we’ve come from. The ideals that shaped our past must shape our future. A no-nonsense conservative is the only thing that is acceptable for us. The “House of Reagan” is no longer the same as the “House of the GOP.” We have been kicked out, left in the cold for dead, forgotten like a cheap pair of shoes. The cornerstones of our beliefs; a strong military, low taxes, small government, etc., is in danger with any one of these candidates. Hopefully after the four years of Obama we will be re-energized. and ready to fight on against socialism and liberalism and to keep the dream of Ronald Reagan alive.
