When the Going Gets Tough

I have to warn you right out that this has nothing to do with politics. Perhaps taking a small walk from the blog’s typical niche is a bad idea but it’s what’s going on in my life and from time to time I like to get personal. Simply put, things have been pretty tough for me lately. I’ve had a rather low paying job for about 6 months now and recently lost the job. I’m back out fighting for another miserable minimum wage job so things around here have slacked a bit. I don’t make any income from this blog but it is an escape from my daily grind and I know it is worth the time.
When I’m going through hard times I do my best to keep my head up. I also like to remind myself of how well I have it compared to a lot of other people out there. It doesn’t take long, looking at some misfortunate countries, to realize I have little to complain about. Still, the pressures of taking care of a family will always weigh on my mind. This is something we all go through. I don’t see myself as an exception or someone facing any abnormal stresses of life. No matter how I look at it things have to get better soon or later.
I guess that leaves me with the notion that I need to focus on what really matters in my life. That being my family and the constant struggle that is The Daily Conservative. I’m not a big time blogger, it’s safe to say only a handful of people even know this site exists. But that’s not why I do what I do. It’s one place that I feel my mundane day to day life doesn’t weigh me down. All the blogosphere wants is reliable, constant and entertaining news to instruct, inform and entertain them. I hope I’m accomplishing that. As long as I am it’s one thing in my life that I can always point to as “hope.”
We can always expect hardship to come our way. Life has a knack for being unfair and it’s not unusual for things to go awfully awry. The best of us will fall at times in our lives. Being a man it’s hard to admit my weaknesses and struggles but I have to get passed that. To make it anywhere in this world we all have to be capable of reaching out for help. For me that means reaching out to my family and, like Barack said, clinging to my religion. We can’t give up in these hard times. At the end of it all we will be stronger, more diligent and more capable of conquering all of our struggles that come along.
Psalm 27:4,5 (The Message)
I’m asking God for one thing,
only one thing:
To live with him in his house
my whole life long.
I’ll contemplate his beauty;
I’ll study at his feet.That’s the only quiet, secure place
in a noisy world,
The perfect getaway,
far from the buzz of traffic.
