In the third part of ‘Politics and the New Media’ we’ll be discussing some hard lessons for politicians, read part one here and part two over here.

Turn on the TV and you’ll be bombarded by political opinion specifically hand picked by that network. Too liberal, too conservative, you are stuck with a handful of choices that you just can’t stand. The remedy? The new media with bloggers leading the way. You can read your choice of the most bias to the most moderate, whatever you want to read at that moment. Instead of a giant network following the rules they have created we now have a world wide web full of people saying whatever they want.

If is detrimental to anyone it is definitely the politicians. With the news media, especially those on the left, politicians can get away with anything as long as it isn’t covered. That is no longer the case and that is a hard lesson for politicians to learn. You can’t hide behind liberally controlled media anymore. You are now at the mercy of millions of ‘unqualified’ journalists known as bloggers. I’m sure they can’t stand it but they also know there’s nothing they can do about it.

In the end we all win. People can say whatever they want and lie just like the typical media outlets but it will all be picked apart by fact conscious people like you and me. This will cause the intelligent politicians to wise up and give it to us straight. For those too oblivious to care we will be awakened to their lies and vote accordingly. So if you’re a politician hoping to win an election from this moment on you better shape up. The blogosphere is watching and waiting for your mistakes and lies.

Here’s the lessons.

Don’t say anything on film, or anywhere in public, that you’ll regret later; it will become a viral video on YouTube and the world will be laughing at you. It’s time to show respect to us bloggers because you never know what story we’ll be spreading to our millions of loyal readers just waiting for that juicy tidbit about your personal life you surely don’t want anyone to know about. Finally, get with the program. Involving us with the rest of the media organizations and giving us respect as reporters and truth seekers will only benefit you in the future as we become an ever more important part in people’s daily mission to be in the know.
