Ralph Nader and Bob Barr May Decide the Election

  • Ralph Nader and Bob Barr, two candidates that just may decide this election. Don’t misread my declaration, I don’t think either of them can win, but they may cause enough trouble to ruin the election for either McCain or Obama. It’s hard to tell which one will cause more damage but in an election full of voters looking for a way to stick it the Obama and McCain the election may be in the hands of third party candidates.

While polls are to be taken with a grain of salt, a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released last Friday shows Ralph Nader with six points, Barr with two points. There’s no telling what percentage will end up voting for either Barr or Nader but you have to look at the big picture. At this moment we’re talking about a possible 8% of voters going for candidates other than Obama or McCain, that is huge.

When people make their final decision in November it will be for the person that they believe will take this country in the right direction. You’ll also have people who vote for absolutely no one because they don’t feel either candidate will do the job the way they see as best. You can follow the party lines or you can vote for the candidate that best suits your values, regardless of their probability of victory. I think we’re going to have a lot people doing that. Picking a third party candidate because McCaina and Obama are both terrible choices.

We’re currently looking at a race that will more than likely be decided by a few percentage points. When I walk into the polls in November I am more than likely not going to vote for McCain. I no longer have any loyalty to the Republican party and have no reason to vote for McCain. How many people are going to follow the same steps that I am taking? I urge you to do as I am. Not to vote against McCain or Obama, but to vote for the person you want in office. Not the lesser of two evils, not your registered parties candidate, but the one person you most identify with. Voting is a personal decision, a privelage, not a duty to your party or some gamble of lesser evils.

I agree. The GOP has proven to be worse than the Democrats on a whole bunch of issues, including the ones they were supposed to be good at like spending and deficits. I no longer have any allegiance to them either.
