Why You Should Ignore ‘Opinion Polls’

Opinion polls, some people swear by them. The problem with polls during the election season is their reliability. You should be able to remember the exit polls during last years election, they were completely wrong. The excitement is so thick this year it’s hard to tell if the people shouting on the polls will follow through. I have a gut feeling that says they won’t.

Who votes anyway? The reality is the most reliable group is white, old men. The young group, the loudest it seems, does not typically show up to vote. This will happen again. They will go out, protest, scream and yell but they won’t vote. Why? I’m not sure. Barack can not rely on the youth vote. They may turn out 2% more than last year but it is not something Barack can count on.

While the day of election draws closer the effort to rally young voters will turn into a rally to get them to actually go out and vote. The air may be thick with the screams and cheers of my fellow young Americans but it’s a fact that most of them will stay home for the election. There’s no clear reason as to why this is the case, maybe it’s lazyness, but the youth vote is not something you can count on. McCain can count on the old white folks to come out. And we know they will vote. So, it’s safer to ignore most opinion polls at this moment. They are just too unpredictable.
