They may be arguing about Iraq, taxes and health care, but the only issue that is going to decide this year’s election is going to be race. The tension is only going to get thicker as time goes on. With the election only a few months away the passion from each candidate’s supporters will be getting dangerously thick. While neither Obama nor McCain will be the ones to admit this problem, the entire election has been about nothing more than race.

It all started with Obama and Clinton. Their stances on the issues were so similar the only thing that was debatable was minor and irrelevant facts. In the end it was the only deciding factor. You had a white woman against the black messiah and it was her destiny to fall in the end. This is the same tone we will have in the last few months of the general election. No real debate, just bickering, the last thing that we need.

In the end the winner will be the one person who is able to energize their base most effectively. Getting together a couple thousand people to watch you at a speech is simple. Getting them to drive to their place of voting is a completely different story. You imagine this would be the end result of all that excitement but it’s hard to tell who will show up to vote this year.

The message from Obama is clear, “I am black! Change the world and over throw the white, power hungry demons currently controlling your lives.” Then you have McCain, “I am old and white! Vote for me because I am not black and need to win because I probably won’t be alive the next election term!”  As a result you’ll have the black community screaming, the old white community mumbling, and everyone else caught in an endless loop of nonsensical jabber, screaming, “give me a realistic candidate please!”

But our cries won’t be heard. We won’t get that conservative candidate we deserve. That chance has already passed us by. There may be a small glimmer of hope if McCain picks a conservative veep but we know that the veep is nothing more than a decoration, a useless olive branch from the maverick. They’ll go about their ways, grow the government a bit more, do absolutely nothing about illegal immigration and you, the ones who threw away their vote for McCain, will be ashamed, left in the cold to mourn over your loss. But isn’t that the name of the game? I guess so, it doesn’t taste well, it burns, but that’s reality.
