Let’s throw political correctness out the window. For one second let’s talk about race like it doesn’t matter. I’m sure I’ll be labeled as a racist for this next article but I want you to think about what I have to say. Don’t be sensitive, don’t throw me under the bus, think about this before you cast judgment.

If it’s ok to say that people will vote against Obama because they are racist, which is what will happen when he loses, is it ok to say you are racist if you don’t vote for McCain? What would you say to a black man if he chooses to vote for Obama? Is he racist because he won’t vote for the white man? What about an Asian individual? Are they racist because they didn’t write in an Asian name on the ballot? This question is meant to provoke thought. Is this election nothing more than the tipping point of a race war in America?

Perhaps it’s just the evidence that politics is a dirty sport. We want to get beyond race but it is the only thing we can talk about anymore. “Oh he’s black. Oh he’s not black. Oh he’ll lose because he’s black.” Who cares that he’s black? I know who cares, black people. They should care. For the first time someone of the same skin color is being allowed a shot at the White House. Don’t ruin it by throwing the race card out every time someone says something you don’t like. No matter what happens your cause has already won. America doesn’t give a hoot about the man’s skin color.

Isn’t that what’s important in the end? To judge a man not by his skin color but by his acts? Wasn’t there a certain influential black preacher that said something similar to this once?

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

I hope that every black man in America realizes how far they have come. The majority of people against Obama, including myself, have spent the last year criticizing Obama’s character rather than his skin color. Except for the rare occasion we have kept this debate on what really matters. This should make you jump for joy. We aren’t worried about his skin color. We could care less what country his family originates from. All we care about is what his policies are and what his character is. That is something that Dr. King would be proud of.
