The Barr Alternative

You have Barack Obama, the most liberal candidate in history. You also have McCain, the most moderate candidate in the Republican Party that fails to measure up to what we conservatives want. You are presented with two candidates that are definitely less than adequate to face the current financial crises. Let’s face it, both Barack Obama and John McCain voted for the largest bailout in our history. It’s true that Barack Obama’s policies are blatantly socialist. However, this bailout and and the nationalization of the banking system is also socialist. George Bush is hated by the left but in all reality has been quite liberal himself. So what to do?

You have the Barr alternative. I’ve decided to vote for McCain but with a lot of hesitation. Hey, I’m straight up about it. The issues I had with McCain during the primaries still ring true. I’m stuck in the old ‘lesser of evils’ loop simply due to Obama’s frightening plans for American. I encourage you to think outside of that box. Yeah, I want you to vote McCain but I am telling you to consider otherwise. Confusing? It shouldn’t be. I am not here to do the GOP’s bidding and will always lay out the choices all across the board. People point at me and claim that I’m some sort of zombie but you will come to realize that I am my own man.

In this time of uncertainty a lot of us will come through for McCain even though we don’t like him. Silly isn’t it? McCain is surprisingly conservative now compared to five months ago. He has slowly made the conversion from a moderately conservative individual to trying to portray a Reagan conservative. He has tried, but watching the debates, he has failed. The Republican Party has been pushing to the left for years and got their wish with McCain. After realizing how off the track he is compared to the rest of his party he is now sliding over to the right. That sounds like typical politics to me. Barack is unabashedly liberal. McCain on the other hand is an unknown. Is there any in between for us?

When I step into the booth on the 4th I’m not quite sure who I’m going to vote for president. I’m like an undecided who has already made up his mind. Will I change my mind at the last second? Pull for Barr or write in Baldwin? I may. You may be in a different situation where your vote is going to greatly effect the race. Me, I’m in Pennsylvania and no matter what they say I’m sure it will go for Obama without a hitch. That leaves me without guilt and permits me to vote outside of the party that has already kicked me out. Does that make sense to you? Maybe it does, do what you have to do but until I do it I’ll be very conflicted. It’s a curse we young people often suffer from; indecisiveness.

Bob Barr wouldn’t be my first choice in the presidential election but choosing him is an option. Not because he is someone I am personally pulling for but because he is on the ballot, doesn’t seem so bad and isn’t McCain or Obama. Truthfully, I’d much rather push the button for Baldwin but being a write in candidate I don’t think he’ll even be counted for. McCain has some admirable attributes that have caused me to side with him. He’s not pro-life enough for me, is supporting the same socialistic programs as Bush and isn’t willing to fight illegal immigration. He is a strong reformer that has fought against corruption and greed his entire career. He is the brighter side of the story but still far too dim for my comfort.

In the end, after my ADHD settles down, I’ll probably vote for McCain. Call it a subconscious decision. John McCain is the better side of the coin because his intentions are a bit more clear. Obama on the other hand seems willing to rewrite the constitution if given permission. Baldwin and Barr are two people that represent real change in America. If either of them stepped into office you can guarantee years of corruption and neglecting the constitution would end in an instant. Obama and McCain are just different variations of politics as usual. Obama wants to spend more, appoint pro-choice justices and sign the choice act into law and McCain wants to continue war around the world, grow our debt and run an odd mixture of conservative and liberal agendas in the White House. That’s not change and neither of them should be shouting about it.

I’ll tell you who I am comfortable voting for. Chances are you aren’t in my district—some of my choices are state wide so you may vote for a couple of these–so you won’t have the chance but if you are I urge you to vote for a couple individuals. I have been pushing Melissa Hart on my blog the past month and with good reason. Melissa is a politician for the people and has always fought for life and liberty. Several other candidates will get my vote which are Vogel, Corbett, Beiler, Ellis, Christiana and Marshall. I wish I could help in the effort to vote out John “cold blood” Murtha but if you can make sure you booth Murtha and vote for Russel. All Republicans. Every time I do the research I end up finding that the Republican is the best choice in my opinion. I have voted third party candidates over the years but there aren’t any decent ones in the area this year. There is also a referendum on the ballot, asking for $400 million for sewer and water systems, and I will be voting no. I’ll cover that soon.  Check out this website to find out who will be on your ballot if you’re in PA you can go directly here.
