When you see Sarah Palin with her youngest child, what do you see? Everyone of us that have children know what unconditional love feels like. Your heart swells when you think about your little one. When I see Sarah and her child that has down syndrome I see compassion on a level you don’t witness everyday. Such love, such heart, and such beauty. It’s no wonder liberals hate this woman.

Does this precious little boy deserve life? Some would argue that he doesn’t. That’s backed up by the disturbing statistic that 90% of parents who discover their child may have DS abort them. I would argue that no one has a right to decide who deserves life and whether or not their lives are worth saving. Such a sad statistic. Give these children the right to breath the same air as you do.

If you want to get into the discussion about whether or not a person with DS deserves to live what about people who are paralyzed? Does a person bound to a wheel chair deserve to live? Their life can’t be as fulfilling as yours. They’ll never run, they can never live a normal life like you do. It’s a dangerous game, debating what quality of life is acceptable, and you should refrain from knocking these human beings down because they can’t live up to your standards.

Sarah Palin is hated by the left because of her unabashed love and devotion to a child they believe should have been aborted. Sarah knows that a parent’s love is not bound because their child suffers from a mental condition. Instead, a loving parent gives their child the chance to live and works to make their life as great as possible. They work extra hard, take upon the responsibilities that comes with with a DS child and give them the best shot at life. They will never become president or won’t be the head of their class but they will live. Everyone deserves the right to life.

I understand this issue better than you may know. When my mother was pregnant she received a few tests, the doctor kindly informed her that he believed her son would be born with DS. His advice to her was to abort the child. He didn’t want her to bring the mentally handicapped child into the world. He didn’t think that he deserved the same chance to live as he did. My mom was shocked, disgusted and appalled. She quickly switched doctors and several months later I was born. What do you know, I don’t have DS–not to say I’m a genius either–but I’m sure glad my mother didn’t listen to the kook and gave me the chance to live.

People like that don’t seem to understand the value of life. It’s precious and our most valuable gift. We can’t go around deciding what quality of life is worth living. Do we abort children before they are born into poverty? Do we abort a child that will be born left handed and therefore inconvenienced in a world for right handers? Where does the qualification begin and end to decide who deserves life? Do we pick only certain races and sexes? Or do we allow each gift from heaven to grow and live a life of their own? Every child deserves life and the compassion of Sarah Palin is beautiful. God bless her and every other parent that takes the extra work to care for a special needs child and loves them unconditionally.
