To the men and women who fought for our freedom, to those that selflessly stood among the fire for no reason other than to serve the call of their country; Thank you. Such a simple gesture that is not said enough. Too often we take our freedoms for granted that so many died fighting for.The respect I have for the men and women who have, are, and will serve this great country is beyond explanation. I want you to know that you are greatly appreciated.
My grandfather was a Marine in the Korean war. I don't know about his experience because he never spoke about it. My mother says he never spoke of it to her either. I can only imagine why. The experiences people have while at war is often traumatic and not something most would want to speak of.
The fact that my grandfather refused to speak of his experiences tells me a couple things about him. I know that he was a prideful person so not talking about his experiences says to me that what he witnessed was not pleasant.
The left, the right, and those in middle should all be able to agree that our vets deserve the best that we can give them. There is no way to pay them for the things they have done. The best we can do is remind everyone of their great sacrifices.
It's easy to forget that somewhere at this moment a soldier is putting their life on the line to protect this country and our freedom. If you have served, are currently serving or plan to serve I want to thank you. I can never say that enough. God bless you and God bless this country.
