God Help Us
-
Barack Obama will soon be sworn in as our 44th president. As the lights dim and the flashy slogans become nothing but words whispering in the wind, President Obama will sit down and stare into the reality that is his job for the next four years. The gimmicks, the promises, the change; everything he relied on to get him to the top will come crashing down. If there’s anything I gladly pray for this man it is for wisdom.
America could be facing some serious times in the next decade or so. Our economy is flailing, oil security is rocky and terrorists around the globe have their eyes set on us. It’s no joke that Obama is stepping in at one of the most crucial times in history. We must all pray that his political gimmicks and socialistic plans will take a back seat when he faces the harsh reality of how dangerous our world is today. It’s no fabrication that at any given moment the next big attack will be put forth. We cannot allow that to happen.
It’s foolish to believe that God is cheering for us in the background for every battle. It’s also foolish not to pray for God’s protection and favor especially in these hard times. I’m not calling for an all out destruction of those that oppose us. I simply call for the destruction of those that seek to destroy us. This doesn’t just mean keeping our eye on the ball in Iraq and finishing it carefully but also securing our boarders here at home. You can laugh at the idea of terrorists coming out of Mexico but it’s a reasonable threat.
I’m not going to mince words; I don’t like Obama. That’s evident in every article I write. I will not be foolish as the Democrats have been and wish failure upon him. He will be my president the same as everyone else’s. This does not mean I will stand idly by and clap enthusiastically as he implements his plans. I will pray for his safety and the well being of our nation. His failure is our failure. There is little room for partisan politics when it comes to that. Fighting tooth and nail against his plans? That’s another story.
Let’s have class. That’s all I’m asking. The only thing uglier than the reality of war was the treatment of our commander in chief during these rough eight years. I get it, you disagree with him and despise his every move. There’s something to be said about his integrity and fortitude. I’m sure you couldn’t even agree with that. I can bring myself to see past the hate for someone in the other party. We are Americans aren’t we? Is it too much to ask people to support the most powerful and stressed man in the world?
Through all this I will find myself resorting to prayer more often than ever. It’s not so bad. Prayer does us all good. Even if you feel it is vain you can rest assured that it is not. I’ll pray for Obama but most importantly I’ll pray for God’s protection over all of us. There’s nothing to be gained through bitterness and resentment of our loss. Our values and principles are at stake and we must fight for those. We must never back down when it comes to protecting the unborn and our country.
With that said I leave you with a thought: What will the next four years bring? Barack will be faced with some very tough decisions. Obama now knows the things we face. He will be held accountable for every decision he makes and I’ll be right there pointing the finger. Four years from now I’ll be pushing harder than ever to get this man out of office. Until then I’m going to stand up for our president in the form of prayer and support during those hard times. For the times I disagree? I’ll be pushing back. Not with the hateful spite we are so used to seeing from the left. I will take him on like a dignified conservative should. With class, determination and the mindset that I know what is right and that I will never back down.
